Explore the Historic Beauty of Molecey Mill

Molecey Mill

Located just off the A1175 road near Market Deeping, Molecey Mill is a beautifully restored Grade II listed* property, full of character and heritage. It dates back to before the Domesday Book and has retained its original charm with huge oak beams, exposed stonework, and period features that make it feel like you’ve stepped into a different time.

The setting is breathtaking – think peaceful ponds, flowing streams, charming bridges, sculpture trails, and vast green spaces that invite you to pause and take it all in. It’s no wonder this retreat has built a reputation as one of the best places to visit in Lincolnshire for craft lovers and creative souls alike.

A Creative Riverside Retreat

Riverside Beads Craft Retreat at Molecey Mill

The Riverside Beads Retreat runs across three days and offers a range of workshops in crafts like beading, polymer clay, paperwork, acrylic painting, silver art clay, crystal work, and much more. No two years are ever the same, and the variety makes it an exciting and enriching place to learn something new.

Beaded Suncatcher

This year, I taught a class on how to make a beaded suncatcher using sticks, wire, and a vibrant selection of beads. It was amazing to watch everyone bring their ideas to life by hand – the kind of experience that stays with you long after the retreat ends.

Workshops With a View

Molecey Mill sculpture gardens

Workshops take place in a spacious indoor studio surrounded by stunning artwork, and when the weather’s good (which it often is), they move outdoors to a beautiful garden classroom. There’s nothing quite like crafting in the sunshine with birdsong in the background and creativity in the air.

The Riverside Beads team (Donna, Caroline, Heidi, Lucy, and others) put their heart and soul into the event – from providing expert instruction to laying on a delicious lunch spread, including a welcome BBQ that helps everyone connect. It’s a true team effort and a very welcoming place.

Why It’s Worth the Trip

Craft workshops

What makes this retreat so special is not just the workshops – it’s the atmosphere. Whether you’re joining as a guest, a tutor, or simply someone who wants to try something new, you’ll find a place where you can relax, learn, and connect.

People come from all over the UK (some even from Cornwall!) to attend, and many return year after year. You can bring your own projects, take time out to explore the grounds, or simply enjoy a quiet moment with a drink between sessions.

Even if you only book a day workshop, the experience is warm, inspiring, and wonderful – perfect for solo visitors, groups of friends, or creative mums and daughters like me and my daughter Lillie, who loves it just as much as I do.
