If you’re looking for a magical family day out this summer, make sure you mark Saturday 5th July in your diary because Alice’s Day is back—and it promises to be more enchanting than ever!
Hosted by The Story Museum in Oxford, this joyful annual celebration transforms the city into a whimsical wonderland. The 2025 theme, ‘Quests and Adventures’, is the perfect invitation to explore, imagine and get a little curious—just like Alice herself.
Oxford, the birthplace of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, will come alive with all sorts of wonderful happenings. Expect vibrant street theatre, storytelling, guided walks, fascinating talks, and even a giant Wonderland Afternoon Tea. Whether you’re chasing the White Rabbit or enjoying a jam tart or two, there’s something for everyone.
Discover Oxford Through the Looking Glass

Across the city, you might find yourself face to face with the Red Queen, stumble across a life-size pack of cards, or catch a glimpse of Alice herself—brought to life by the brilliant performers at Curious Company.
Plenty of much-loved Oxford institutions are joining in the fun, including:
- The Bodleian Libraries
- Museum of Oxford
- History of Science Museum
- The Lewis Carroll Society
- Oxford Water Walks
- The Oxford Children’s Book Group
- Alice’s Shop
Even Christ Church—once home to the real Alice Liddell—will be hosting a few surprises. Don’t miss the chance to play croquet in the Masters’ Garden, in partnership with the Eynsham Croquet Club. There’s also a special Magic Lantern talk by Phillip Roberts, showcasing a 19th-century storytelling device with newly acquired Lewis Carroll slides from the Christ Church Library—an absolute must for any Wonderland fan!
Adventures at The Story Museum

At the heart of the celebration, The Story Museum will be offering half-price entry to its immersive galleries. It’s also the only place to try out Snarks and Riddles—a brand new, life-size board game designed by the museum’s own young Story Curators (aged 11–16). Step into the game and take on your own quest inspired by the wild and wonderful world of Lewis Carroll.
And if all that exploring works up an appetite, don’t miss the chance to book a spot at the giant Wonderland Afternoon Tea in the museum’s Magic Common Room. Expect mouth-watering cakes, sandwiches, and savouries—all freshly made by the talented café team.
A Word from The Story Museum

Ameneh Enayat, Head of Creative Programme at The Story Museum, shares her excitement:
“We are incredibly excited to reveal another unforgettable Alice’s Day.
We are especially pleased to reveal the new interactive board-game, made by our young Story Curators; a team of budding designers aged 11–16 working with The Story Museum to develop skills in immersive exhibitions in weekly after-school sessions during term time.
We are incredibly grateful to our partners who work so hard to make this day so special. I can’t think of many children’s stories that have influenced art, fashion, food and film the way that Alice has, and it’s wonderful to think that it all originated here in Oxford.”
If you’ve ever dreamed of falling down the rabbit hole, Alice’s Day in Oxford is your invitation to do just that. Magical, educational, and brimming with imagination—it’s one of those unique events the whole family will remember.
